On a sturdy tent, you can count. And a good thing too, because it’s your only accommodations on your next camping trip. What do you like better in mind when buying a new tent?
Are you alone, as a couple or more? Pull your heading with or without the kids? Note the size of your tent especially if you are looking for the best family tent! A solo tent to a group tent for up to nine people, the offer is huge. Single tents are often made for lightweight campers and look so usually minuscule and primary to save weight. Family Tents are often made up of several rooms, tent (s)
How will the tent be utilized? What qualities must they meet? Mountaineers need a very different type of shelter than sunbathers who go to a camp in the south of France or festival-goers who want to get a spot as soon as possible on the camping meadow.
The weight and volume as the tent are packed can play a very significant role. Are you with the car? Then make a kilo more or less naturally nothing. However, you plan a trip by bike or on foot? Then each additional kilogram that you have to lug around one too many. Mountaineers will choose as light and small as possible, and end up in a higher price range. For a solo tent, you can quickly dive under two kilos. For larger tents that all that difficult.
Also, the weather conditions also play a role. We can roughly distinguish three types of shelters:
Camping in mild and hot weather
Especially for the festival goer, the speed of setting up an important point. Easy Camp offers tents to be set up even more thoroughly. Here and unzip the tent folds itself open. You do it just yet secure with pegs and guy ropes.
In almost every new tent in the product indicated that the water column is of the ground cloth and canvas. But what does it mean exactly, a water column of 3,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 mm?
A water column says something about the amount of water that can be a tent ground cloth or ‘conventions’ before water penetrates through it. The value is expressed in mmWS (Millimeter Wassersaüle). A water column of 3000 mm means that cloth has only let through water when there arises a pressure which is comparable to the weight of a column of water three meters high.
The water column indicates how many mm of water per cm 2 can stand on the canvas before the material is leaking. Specifically: a tent, a ground cloth or waterproof clothing is a (transparent) column put that slowly filled with water. As more water enters the column, the pressure on the lower layer becomes greater. Eventually, it will pass through the material leaking through the pressure. The higher the water column, the longer it takes the material from leaking.
The material is called waterproof at a water column of 800 mm. In general, it can be stated that even a tent fabric with a water column of 2000 mm remains water-resistant at a prolonged rain. Because canvas wears, it is even safer to choose a water column of at least 3000 mm.
In a groundsheet applies a higher value. A ground cloth is only considered reliable waterproof with a water column of 5000 mm. However, there are also ground sails with a water column of 10 000 mm or higher. This higher value is easy to explain. On a groundsheet also sat or slept. There is so frequently a large press. A tent will endure less direct powers.
It is also wise as to protect your groundsheet to use a separate ground sheet or canvas diaper.
The concept of water column only applies to tarpaulins made of nylon or polyester, and a water-resistant coating, usually a PU coating. It does not apply to cotton tents or tents with a combination of cotton/polyester (Technical Cotton/TC). Cotton threads are indeed impregnated and swell when it rains. As a result, cotton cloth waterproof but also breathable. Although a canvas of nylon or polyester waterproof, has no breathability because the coating the canvas completely shut.
Of course, there is in cotton tents indeed say something about the water column of the groundsheet because there just is created as polyester or nylon tents use of plastic land sailing (usually polyester or polyethylene). A cotton ground cloth is theoretically possible, but would never be strong enough to serve as a reliable foundation for campers.
